Palmer handed biggest price rise of ALL TIME in FPL

Cole Palmer has risen by a record-breaking £5.5m for the start of 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League.

The Chelsea midfielder will now cost £10.5m after his sensational breakthrough 2023/24 campaign, when he started at £5.0m before going on to top the player standings on 244 points.

That rise breaks the previous record of £5.0m, set by Andy Carroll in 2011/12.

Carroll had started 2010/11 costing only £5.0m while at Newcastle United but, after moving to Liverpool midway through the season, was priced at £10.0m ahead of his first full season with the Reds.

However, the forward failed to justify that hefty valuation. He managed a mere four goals in 35 appearances and claimed just a single double-figure haul to end the season at just £9.1m.

Highest-ever price rises in Fantasy
Player Season Previous price New price Price rise
Palmer 2024/25 £5.0m £10.5m £5.5m
Carroll 2011/12 £5.0m £10.0m £5.0m
Kane 2015/16 £5.0m £9.5m £4.5m
Adam 2011/12 £5.0m £9.0m £4.0m
Sigurdsson 2012/13 £5.0m £9.0m £4.0m
Mahrez 2016/17 £5.5m £9.5m £4.0m

Palmer’s all-round potential certainly indicates he will avoid a similar collapse.

He produced 22 goals and 13 assists, despite not making his full debut for Chelsea until Gameweek 7 last season.

The midfielder’s incredible consistency meant he blanked only ONCE in his 13 starts at Stamford Bridge, while his 15 attacking returns in away matches were just two behind the league-high 17 of Ollie Watkins (£9.0m).

He also delivered 10 double-figure returns across his breakout campaign, showing why he is among the very best captaincy options in Fantasy.

Despite his hefty jump in cost, Palmer is significantly cheaper than Erling Haaland, whose price of £15.0m for 2024/25 makes him the most expensive Fantasy asset of all-time.

The England star is also £2.0m less than Mohamed Salah, who remains at £12.5m for the season ahead.

Chelsea’s early schedule only strengthens the appeal of Palmer as a must-have for managers’ opening squads.

According to the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), six of their first seven matches score a mere two.

Chelsea’s first seven matches
GW Opponent FDR
1 MCI (H) 5
2 WOL (A) 2
3 CRY (H) 2
4 BOU (A) 2
5 WHU (A) 2
6 BHA (H) 2
7 NFO (H) 2

*1 = easiest possible fixture, 5 = hardest possible fixture

Palmer’s potential for goals and assists, combined with his penalty duties, gives him the chance to immediately profit from that run of opponents and secure his place in millions of managers’ squads from the very start of the season.
