Deer Valley’s Record Expansion for Winter 2025/26

Deer Valley Resort in Utah is about to make ski history with what’s believed to be the world’s largest single-season expansion, transforming the resort ahead of winter 2025/26.

Nearly 2,000 acres of new terrain and 81 fresh trails are being added on the East Village side, building on last year’s initial rollout. Once complete, Deer Valley will offer around 5,726 acres of skiable terrain across 200 runs, pushing it into the top six largest ski areas in the United States.

New Terrain, New Lifts, New Energy

The expansion takes in land originally planned for a separate ski project that never materialised. Instead, Deer Valley has absorbed it into a unified, seamless network of slopes.

A total of 16 new lifts will eventually serve the area, with several due to open this winter. Key additions include the East Village gondola, a wind-resistant Doppelmayr dual-cable system, and the Pinyon Express, a high-speed six-seat bubble chairlift linking the front side to high-elevation glades.

These lifts are designed to improve skier flow and reduce bottlenecks, creating a smoother experience across the resort’s expanding footprint.

Upgraded Facilities and Snowmaking

Deer Valley’s transformation goes beyond lifts and runs. Crews are installing 1,100 new snow guns, expanding reliable snow coverage across the new terrain. A striking 60,000-square-foot day lodge is also being built to serve as the central hub for dining, rentals, and guest services, offering visitors a modern and comfortable base.

The upgrade is designed to enhance the resort’s appeal for both destination travellers and day visitors, cementing Deer Valley’s reputation as one of North America’s premier luxury ski destinations.

A Big Moment for Park City

The expansion also reshapes the local landscape. Park City, already home to Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) – the biggest ski area in the US – now offers more skiable terrain on its doorstep than any other North American town.

While Deer Valley and PCMR remain on separate lift passes, together they make Park City a powerhouse for skiers seeking variety, quality, and sheer scale.
