The Hickory Crawdads split a doubleheader with the Bowling Green Hot Rods, winning the first game, 2-1 but dropping the nightcap, 7-2.
In game one, Bowling Green got on the board first with a home run in the bottom of the first. However, Hickory responded with a solo home run from Gleider Figuereo to tie the game at 1-1.
In the fourth inning, Quincy Scott hit a double and moved to third on a Marco Soto flyout. Scott would score after a Marcus Smith single, and the Crawdads would hold on for the 2-1 final.
In game two, Bowling Green would score the first seven runs in the contest. Hickory scored their lone runs in the top of the seventh inning. With one away, Sebastian Walcott doubled. Luis Mieses followed that with a home run for the final 7-2 score. Hickory was able to get two runners on base, but left them stranded.
The Crawdads are 8-9 on the second half of the season, 36-47 overall. Hickory stays in Kentucky this week. They are off Monday through Wednesday of next week for the MLB All-Star Break, but return home July 19 to take on the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
